Struck Celebrates 25th Annivesary

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (February 9, 2021) – Struck is proud to announce its 25th anniversary as a leading creative and marketing agency. An interactive timeline of Struck’s history, featuring groundbreaking and award-winning creative, spanning a range of industries, was launched today. Visuals from over 100 projects and milestones can be found at struck25.com.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1996, under the Axiom name, the firm began with several high profile studio projects for Warner Bros, MGM and Universal Pictures. Led by current Executive Creative Director and partner, Brent Watts, this early work helped bring films such as Jurassic Park and Men in Black to the big screen.

“Like every project we tackle, Struck started with the words “what if?” said Brent Watts, partner and executive creative director at Struck. “What if our advertising agency didn’t simply create ads? What if instead, we created unexpected moments, new experiences and seemingly impossible possibilities? What if problems weren’t problems, but opportunities to try something new? What if we used every tool available from pen and paper to the latest technologies? Join us in celebrating 25 years of creativity. 25 years of imagination. 25 years of what if.”  Further opportunities to celebrate Struck’s “25 Years of Creativity” will be announced throughout the year via social media and newsletters.

Opening an office in Salt Lake City in 1999 laid the foundation for the company we see today. Struck’s three creative directors: Scott Sorensen, Matt Manes and Tosh Brown, joined at the start of the 2000’s, and are each celebrating two-decades of creativity with Struck: a rarity in the agency world. Struck has operated offices in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Portland and New York City at various times through the 2000’s.

Work on the Olympics Games in 2002 ultimately led to Pauline Ploquin, Struck’s current President and partner, joining the agency in 2003. Ploquin had been part of the Olympic Creative Team that selected Struck to design the Olympic Medals, Torch and Poster for the 2002 Olympic Games. In 2009 Pauline was instrumental in engineering the merger between Struck and Axiom.

Struck President Pauline Ploquin recalls: “When we looked at Struck’s track record of ground breaking digital marketing such as the revolutionary microsite for Phillip’s Shave Everywhere campaign and Axiom’s global footprint in brand transformation, we knew that our combined teams would help define a new era of marketing.”

Transforming experiences and changing perceptions are constant guiding principles of Struck. Whether it be creating a unique way to experience Utah’s natural wonders with the Mighty Five brand through a decade-plus relationship with the Utah Office of Tourism, or modernizing three legacy banking institutions with Altabank, Struck has continually pushed creative boundaries.

As a full-service marketing firm, Struck has led a number of landmark and award-winning projects that touch all aspects of a brand lifecycle and customer journey. Earning recognition across the advertising world and beyond, including numerous AdAge, AIGA, and Webby Awards, as well as winning Clio and Emmy Awards are a testament to diverse talent. Struck’s capabilities have grown to match today’s business realities that all industries share: strategy, visual identity, website design, voice marketing, experiential marketing, media and analytics.

“What sets Struck apart is our commitment to partnership,” said Andrew Howlett, CEO and partner at Struck. “Beginning each engagement with thorough research to inform strategy leads to the unique results you see across all of our work. Our focus on outcomes, with the user at the center of everything we do, shows in the results. Adapting to technology, and using it to the advantage positions Struck for the future of marketing.”
